Call for papers

Calls for papers have now closed

The conference committee received an excellent diverse group of proposals to both calls for papers. All proposers are being notified and successful proposers will be included in the conference program.


Proposals from local, interstate and overseas presenters addressing conference themes are invited.

In this round, proposals are particularly encouraged that address the first two conference themes;

  • local government’s engagement with indigenous art and culture
  • improving evaluation of arts activities and community development programs

Other conference themes:

  • the significance of diverse communities and the changing shape of community cultures and their impact on local government in Victoria.
  • arts as a vehicle for building and strengthening communities and facilitating social inclusion
    the impact of arts activities on health, education and economic development.
  • innovative partnerships

Closing date 5 pm Monday February 26, 2007
Potential presenters will be notified of outcome of applications by mid-March.

Presenters:

Proposals are encouraged from professionals including arts and culture workers, planners and programmers, community service officers, economic development, community, social urban and environmental planners, as well as councillors, public policy developers and
community leaders, academics in cultural studies, social policy, human service and artists and arts workers engaged with communities.

Proposal formats:

Proposals for traditional verbal presentations, either individual or entire panels as well as non-traditional formats such as film, video and performance are welcome. Presentations will generally be limited to 20 minutes, with 10 minutes for questions.
