What it is:
The intrinsic value of art
Art-making is the primary medium through which our creativity finds an outlet and through which we share it with others
Expressive: art-making facilitates the outpourings of our innate creativity.
It is the means whereby we document our dreams.
Connective: as the creative conduit, art-making puts us in touch with the unknown, the unconscious, the muse, the irrational, the imaginative.
It is our link with the mystic, with that part of ourselves, and of others, that transcends reason.
As important, its making connects us with others in ways beyond the rational.
Without the opportunity to make art, particularly with others, our complete humanity is denied.
Art-making should be recognised as a basic human right
