Planning your activities

WhiteBox: outcomes planning platform.
A new online system to support better evidenced based and outcome focused activities

Effective planning processes for cultural development activities involve much more than choosing an activity. Most important are questions about the purpose of your work: what are you wanting to achieve and how will you and your council know you have got there?

This online system is for managers and creators of cultural development activities such as exhibition, performance, presentation, collection development, sector development etc.. It assists the connection of a new activity to your organisation’s goals (whether government, cultural institution or independent producer) as per an organisation’s strategic plan or equivalent. It enables consideration of the relevant evidence, helps articulate what the activity is intended to achieve, and informs decisions about how the activity will be evaluated.  At any time you can export reports on status of your activity program and importantly the outcomes achieved from the activity (output) for the investment (input) that can be read by the funding or governance body for your organisation.

It also provides a bank of evidence (published research and information about projects completed by other cultural organisations) to inform planning of a new activity. This enables the choice of activities that have the best chance of achieving desired outcomes.

This WhiteBox system is currently being trialled and developed to beta stage.  For more information contact CDN Executive Officer, john.smithies@culturaldevelopment.net.au
