Coordination

Conference partners

The conference is being developed and presented by the Cultural Development Network and the The Centre for Cultural Partnerships, at the Victorian College of the Arts and Music at the University of Melbourne (CCP-VCAM). It picks up the interests of both organisations in issues around cultural measurement.

The Cultural Development Network is an independent non-profit organisation that links individual practitioners, community organisations and government across Victoria around issues of cultural vitality. We advocate a stronger role for cultural expression to build a healthier, more engaged and sustainable society. We work towards a society in which local communities, in all their diversity, have the resources and support they need to make and express their own culture. We advocate a stronger role for local government in nurturing cultural vitality and see the arts (at the heart of culture) as central to this vision. We aim to elevate and embed the appreciation of culture and community-based arts into public life at the local level. The Cultural Development Network is based in Melbourne, Australia. We work primarily across our state of Victoria and have partnerships in other Australian states.

The Centre for Cultural Partnerships is a dynamic hub that draws together people from around the world to think, reflect and take action to build stronger and more vital communities. Through partnerships and collaboration the Centre’s programs focus on the role of the arts in strengthening communities, promoting social inclusion, building leadership and fostering community cultural vitality. Committed to interdisplinary and inter-cultural methods, the Centre brings together the resources and expertise of community cultural development (CCD) practitioners, partnership brokers, social entrepreneurs, arts educators, planners and public policy analysts to provide new models in teaching, professional development training, action research and knowledge exchange. Fundamental to the Centre’s programs is the examination of the changing role of the artist/animateur/social entrepreneur and their work in collaborating with communities to create new forms of artistic and cultural expression.
