Kita Performing Arts Company presents traditional and contemporary performing arts of Asia
Kita is an Indonesian word that means ‘we’. We chose this word for our name because of its Indonesian meaning, and also because the letters of the word 'Kita' stand for our home countries; Korea, Indonesia, India, Taiwan and our new homeland of Australia. We love to share our cultures with each other and our audiences. We are equally at home in professional theatre and in communities, schools and at festivals. Kita's performance at the conference will be led by Anjali Sengupta, a traditional and contemporary dancer, from Bombay India. Anjali has joined Kita while she lives in Australia undertaking post-graduate studies in dance and arts therapy.
The idea for the dance we will present came from a rain dance of celebration in the Bollywood movie 'Lagaan'!
